Worldwide spectacle developed by French

Russian ballet originated in a group of dance academies in Moscow and St.Petersburg in the 18th century. It was also passionated by the Tsars, who were particularly enthusiastic for ballets. In the 19th century, some of the best French and Italian dancers and teachers went to Russia and ballet developed considerably more than in western Europe where opera was preferred. Today there are two renowned Russian Ballet companies in the world, which are Bolshoi and Mariinsky. They go round the world to perform thier wonderful ballet shows: Swan lake, Romeo & Juliet, Giselle, the Nutcracker, etc. It's very prestigious spectacule to watch them in the teater. Russian ballet has for many decades been regarded as the barometer of classical dance.

Bolshoi Ballet

The Bolshoi Ballet is founded in 1776, based at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Along with the Mariinsky Ballet in St.Petersburg, Bolshoi is one of the most cerebrated ballet companies in Russia. Approximately 220 dancers perform its passionate style ballet around the world.

Mariinsky Ballet

The Mariinsky Ballet is a classical ballet company based at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. It's founded in 18th century and originally known as the Imperial Russian Ballet, and also Kirov Ballet in the times of Soviet. The Mariinsky Ballet, with more than 200 dancers, is one of the international leading ballet companies as prestigious as Bolshoi Ballet. Its dance style is pure and refined classicism.
