Electricity

Voltage

Electricity in France comes out of the electrical outlets at 230-240 volts. In the US, the voltage is 110 volts. So, before you take dryer, electric shaver, battery chargers for digital cameras and cell phones etc, it's better verify if they adapt for French voltage as well, otherwise you can bring a transformer with you. Check statement on it which voltage band it accepts.

Plug

The electrodes (terminals) on US plug are flat. In France, the electrodes are cylindrical. And wall outlets are only made to accept this type of plugs.

Internet

In France, WiFi has been diffused in many public places: cafe, hotel, airport etc.
Nice has taken a new step towards innovation by adding three outdoor internet hotspots to the city. People have been signing up and logging on to the free WiFi network since the creative concept was launched earlier today.
For your mobile phone, laptop and even iPad, the online system is quick and easy to use. Just activate your WiFi connection, search for the Orange server at these places: Place Massena, Place Garibaldi, the Coulée Verte and Nice's parks and gardens.
You can use this service from 8:00 to 22:00, people will be able to access the internet and each user is able to sign on for 30 minute periods at a time, but there is no limit to how many times you use the service.
