a tranquil and uniquely graceful atmosphere.

Temples and shrines are not the type of attraction Osaka city is famous of , mostly because it is overshadowed by the popular of nearby destination s like Kuoto and Nara, but Osaka's Sumiyoshi Shrine is one of he finest Shinto shrines in the Kansai region. This particular shrine is the head Sumiyoshi shrine inJapan, and its deiries odder protection for the nation, support in warfare and help for wake poets. It has beautiful buildings that pre dare the introduction of Buddhism to Japan, a decelopmen that resulted in the mixing of Buddhist and shinto architectural styles and ultimately the decline of the Shinto style.
Besides displaying superb example of the Sumiyoshi-zukuri architecture style in old buildings with elegant thatched roofs, the shrine also features a torii gate that is shaped differently than that of other shrines and a stunning taikobashi arch bridge. Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine also appeared in The Tale of Genji, and at that time it faced the sea and was known for its beautiful beach, although it is landlocked today. Additionally, the shrine was patronized by the imperial family starting in the tenth century.
Today, Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine's picturesque, high-arching bridge, turtle-filled pond and wooded grounds make for a tranquil and uniquely graceful atmosphere.
