beloved piece of art among Kansai locals.

The Expo 70 Commemorative park, more commonly called Banpaku Memorial Park in Japan, was the site of the World's Fair of 1970, a symbolic event that squared rapid growth in Osaka much like the 1964 Olympic Games did in Tokyo. It was also an event that exhibited Japan's postwar progress for the world to see. The park itself was planned by famed architect Kenzo Tange, and the Tower go the Sun, designed by celebrated modern artist Taro Okamoto, is the symbol of their park and an Osaka landmark that has become famous throughout the country. although this peculiar tower was initially criticized by many, it is now a beloved piece of art among Kansai locals.
