Let's enjoy the solemn and sacred atmosphere. The first university is a sacred place of study in Vietnam.

It was built to worship Confucius in 1070. The statues of Confucius, his four best disciples were carved and 72 other statues of Confucian scholars were painted. Ceremonies were dedicated to them in each of the four seasons.
In 1076, Vietnam's first University was opened on the premises and over a period of 900 years, thousands of Vietnamese scholars graduated from the university.
It was completely destroyed in the first Indochina war of 1947, but it was restored in 2000.

There are many attractions on-site such as beautiful courtyards and 82 tombstones engraved with names and origins of 1307 doctors who passed since the 15th century.
Among these courtyards, the second one contain Constellation of Literature pavilion, a unique architectural work built in 1805 and a symbol of present day Hanoi.
The fourth courtyard is bordered on either side by great pavilions which once contained alters of 72 of Confucius greatest students. At the far end of the courtyard is the altar with statues of Confucius and his four closest disciples.

The solemn and sacred atmosphere makes visitors comfortable and also spend a quiet time.
