Flamboyant Provençal Gothic facade in the cobbled square

This beatiful Church in the center of Avignon, was built in 1385. The door in solid walnut has two porticos with figures in relief under an arch in three dimensions. The statue of Vergin with child between doors was sculpted by Jean Péru. Entering church, you come across giled columns dipicting various religious scenes. The church has many interesting artworks to admire: multi-panelled High Renaissance altar with the grand portico which includes the painting of “La Remise des clefs à Saint Pierre”, the pulpit, "Adoration of the shepherds" by Simon de Chalons. It's worth to visit during stay at Avignon!
