The most famous market in Nice

The promenade where the market is located dates back to the sixteenth century when the town was ruled by the House of Savoy and, as vieux Nice was largely constructed during this period. The market is situated very close to famous Promenade des Anglais, and like other part of European cities, it works lively from early morning. Many stalls are arrayed in aisles exposing thier local products: bread, spice, cheese, flower, fish etc. While, Mediterrenean flavors and those from the South of France are also in abundance: socca (a chickpea flour pancake), marinated olives, candied fruits (fruits confit), marzipan, calissons, lavender, soaps etc. Some of them are good items for souvenirs. Around this market, you can find many restaurants and bars. Let's have a cup of tea and brioche before strolling among stalls! Instead, on Mondays these stalls transform into antique market.
