English promenade is a symbol of Nice

In the second half of the 18 century, the English came to Nice to escape from cold winter. Then, when the beggers increased to gather here, some of the rich Englishmen proposed to construct a walkway for them. La Promenade des Anglais is renamed replacing "Camin deis Anglés" after Nice merged with France after 1860. Today La Promenade is the best place for a stroll for everyone. Some enjoy skateboarding, others are riding on bicycle. Some events such as the annual Carnival, the Battle of Flowers take place here.
