Fort of the woman that burns in red.

Although at a distance of about an hour's drive from Siem Reap, Banteay Srei's popularity as a tourist destination remains.
Banteay Srei is a temple, which means "fort of the woman," and was built in 967.
It is medium in size, but there is a beauty that is more sophisticated than other ruins, meaning that many tourists visit.
There is a uniqueness not found other ruins, and the beauty of deep relief carving using lots of laterite and red sandstone.

Devata, called "Mona Lisa of the East" is famous. Stories of other gods, such as Lord Shiva are depicted as a relief, it has the taste of a museum rather than ruins.
Unfortunately it is not possible to see up close the temple center, because "Mona Lisa of the East" has become a restricted area.

It is recommended that you visit in the morning, because it looks most beautiful because of the influence of the light of the sun. It looks like red sandstone on fire.
Also, it is possible to see the beauty even further after rain, as it becomes more red.
