along Yamanote railroad line: Let's go out to a trip for cherry blossom viewing

Sakura is the most popular flower in japan.
The blooming time of the Cherry Blossom Trees changes from year to year depending on the weather the winter before.If the weather during the months before the season was mild, the flowers will open around end of March. If it was a cold winter, the trees will bloom later on, in early April.
We introduce the famous places of a recommended cherry tree spots along JR Yamanote Line.

①Shinjuku Gyoen (10 minutes walk from Shinjuku station)

Shinjuku Gyoen Garden is one of the best places to enjoy the cherry blossoms in Tokyo. Shinjuku Gyoen is a good hanami destination for those who miss the main season by a week or two.

②Yoyogi Park (3 minutes walk from JR Harajuku station)

Over 600 cherry trees are planted around the spacious Yoyogi Park, offering pleasant picnic opportunities.
The grounds will be full of partying hanani groups so be prepared.

③Meguro River (5 minutes walk form JR Meguro station)

About 800 cherry trees line Meguro River for several hundred meters and create an amazing sight.
There are stylish cafes along the river where you can enjoy coffee and Hanami.

④Shiba Park (12 minutes walk from Hamamatsu-cho Station)

One place that always comes to mind as the place for cherry blossom viewing in Minato-ku is Shiba Park. There are about 200 cherry trees of different species in this park surrounding Zojo-ji temple.
Many people visit this area to enjoy the nighttime light-up of both Tokyo Tower and the cherry blossoms.

⑤Ueno Onshi Park (2 minutes walk from JR Ueno station)

During the Shougitai Battle of Ueno in 1868 the hall and tower were virtually destroyed and the park was established as one of Japan's first parks in 1873. In 1924 the park was donated to Tokyo City by imperial grant and was developed as a metropolitan park. In spring the park is filled with someiyoshino cherry and wild cherry blossom, making it one of the famous cherry blossom spots within the capital.
